Not a ton of progress this last week. Since Bob had nearly buttoned up with the fascia and the front stoop roof, Oceana wasn’t far behind. She worked her way around the house scraping off the old paint, removing nails, and getting the old soffits ready for new paint. This last week has been like a typical summer week – afternoon showers daily and random pop-up showers here and there. Oceana got the soffits primed a little at a time in between rain showers.

Two steps backwards
A few weeks ago while we were working on the back bedroom, I peeked in the access over the bathroom and noticed the A/C linesets (the lines that connect the inside unit to the outside unit) were sweating. They are insulated, so I thought it was just because Bob had the windows open letting in lots of humid air. I decided to take a peek at it again this week. Sure enough, the linesets are still sweating like crazy. So much so that water was pooling up on the top of the drywall over the bathroom.

Heavy duty pipe insulation
I ordered some large pipe insulation pieces from Amazon. A few days later, they showed up. It is very nice insulation! I tried to get into the top of the access space over the bathroom but my torso was just a wee bit big for the opening. I could only reach half of the lines. The only thing to do then is to cut drywall. I put plastic all over our one finished bathroom and then cut a hole in the ceiling. Sure enough, the drywall was wet. Using this access hole, I was able to fit the new pipe insulation around all of the exposed linesets. I’ll leave the hole in the ceiling for a few days to let everything dry out and to confirm that the pipes are no longer sweating.
That’s all for this week. Happy Fourth! Thanks again for following along.
The first picture of Oceana painting shows what a big difference there is between the old and the new. It looks so nice! Too bad about the pipes, but now they are insulated. Hope you guys enjoy the 4th! Love, Mom
